For starters: Rays at Red Sox, trying to avoid a sweep
UPDATE, 12:09: Cash said Souza (knee bruise) wasn't able to play today but they are hopeful of Monday. ... Both LHP Xavier Cedeno (forearm) and RHP Nate Eovaldi (TJ surgery) pitched well and felt good in their first rehab stint, with Double-A Montgomery, which advanced to Game 5 tonight of the Southern League playoffs. ... Triple-A Durham on late Saturday clinched the first round of the International League playoffs and advanced to the Governor's Cup finals.
DEVELOPING: With their thoughts also on Hurricane Irma's impact on the Tampa Bay area, the Rays have to face the Red Sox this afternoon in Boston, and do so trying to avoid being swept.
After losing by a combined score of 18-3 the first two nights, that seems a tough task, though they feel good in having veteran RHP Alex Cobb on the mound.
And Cobb, who was born in the Boston area, tends to pitch well in Fenway Park.
The Red Sox are starting veteran RHP Rick Porcello, the 2016 Cy Young Award winner who has had his struggles overall this season but has pitched well at times against the Rays.
RF Steven Souza is not in the lineup for a second straight day, still dealing with the left knee he bruised running into the outfield wall on Friday.
