Police name person of interest in fatal East Tampa shooting

TAMPA — Police released photos Thursday of a man described as a "person of interest" in a fatal shooting outside an east Tampa liquor store last month.

Detectives are hoping to interview Michael Anthony Bridgeman Jr., 29, about the April 27 shooting death of Curtis Eugene Thomas, Tampa police said.

Thomas, 39, died from severe trauma to his upper body, police said. Officers responding to a 911 call discovered his body just before 1 a.m. in the parking lot of the Lake Avenue Liquors store at 2309 E Lake Ave.

Bridgeman, who also goes by the nickname "Meego," was seen on surveillance camera footage entering the store. Police said Bridgeman has several gold teeth and is missing several of his upper teeth. Prior Hillsborough arrest records say he is about 5 feet 11 and 200 pounds.

An active warrant for Bridgeman's arrest says he violated a three-year probation sentence in August. Bridgeman's probation, stemming from felony charges of cocaine possession and marijuana possession with intent to sell, was scheduled to end on March 18.
