9 new restaurants to try in Tampa Bay this month

Spring has finally sprung in Tampa Bay, and new restaurants are sprouting up all across the region. This month, look for pizza in a cone in Safety Harbor, a bubbly bar popping up in St. Petersburg, a new breakfast place on Clearwater Beach, some serious seafood taking root in Riverview and a new farmers market launching in Sarasota.

Benevolent Biscuits LLC

This husband-and-wife baking team debuted their biscuit business at the Temple Terrace Farmers' Market at 11302 N 56th St. on April 1. The market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Another Broken Egg Cafe

A third Tampa Bay location for the southern-inspired breakfast concept just opened at 470 Poinsettia Ave. on Clearwater Beach. Open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, the restaurant serves up breakfast dishes like Bananas Foster French toast and peach cobbler pancakes, as well as brunch items like crab cakes and fried green tomatoes, and shrimp and grits.

Brooklyn Pizza Company

There's not a whole lot better than $2 sangria, except for $1 drafts and single slices of pizza. Both are being offered at a grand opening for Brooklyn Pizza Company in Seminole on April 9. The event, at the restaurant's location at 10785 Park Blvd., will run from 5 to 8 p.m.

Sprouts Farmers' Market

This new location of the Arizona-based supermarket is scheduled to open on at 7 a.m. April 12 at 8330 S Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. With fresh produce, meats and everyday food staples, the store is offering 20 percent off the entire purchase of its first 200 shoppers.

Hawthorne Bottle Shoppe

The St. Petersburg beer and wine market has been open on Central Avenue since February, but its owners are holding a grand opening on April 14. They'll have beers from Green Bench, Angry Chair, Cigar City and Cycle breweries, plus a few more. There's a Facebook event for the opening, which will be updated with more information.

Pizza Cones

This pizza place at 500 Main St. in Safety Harbor plans to hold its grand opening on April 15. Pioneered by Kono Pizza, an on-the-go chain, pizza cones are made when pizza crust is fashioned like an ice cream cone and stuffed with cheese and pizza toppings.

Fee's Kitchen

In Riverview, popular seafood vendor Felecia Mejia is celebrating a grand opening of her brick-and-mortar takeout spot on April 29. Located at 7415 US 301 S, the menu will consist of $17 shrimp trays and $25 crab trays.

Flûte

Sometime this month, a bubbly bar will open on Beach Drive in place of the Eagle Cafe in St. Petersburg. Owned by Greg Haddad of Ruby's Elixir and Tony Mangiafico of Gratzzi Italian Grille, the bar will feature an array of champagnes, proseccos and decadent food, plus a selection of beers and cigars.

Noble Crust

Coming to the Shops at Wiregrass is a second location of the popular Italian-Southern fusion concept based in St. Petersburg. In Wesley Chapel, the restaurant will offer a similar menu with brunch, dinner and drink options as well as revolving specials.
